Throughout history, hope is the one thing that sends us a message of peace, that all will be well in the end. It is hope in the eternal plan of salvation by faith, so that we can see through the fog of uncertainty and chaos, to a Kingdom that knows no end, the Kingdom of heaven.
This is especially true at this time of year when traditionally the birth of the Saviour of the world is celebrated. Here we recognise hope in action, as God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to show us a new way.
Rather than being the autocratic ruler over everything, Jesus demonstrated his divine nature; humble, kind, compassionate, pure, forgiving, wise, diligent, prayerful, courageous.
This hope in action flies in the face of current culture, where socialism, new age thinking and lukewarm churches try to disseminate the truth.
The comment, ‘That’s your truth’ means choosing a different path or goal as the object of hope. Many now are seeking clarity and searching for something to hang their faith on. And that choice is freedom, our inalienable right as individuals to make decisions without pressure or compulsion.
This is a gift and one we should use wisely, by listening to each other and being considerate in our responses.
Rather than solving the world’s problems, we would all take ownership to pursue hope, joy and peace in as much as it is in our capacity to do so.
